# Exercise Explanation

The Exercise Explanation uses an artificial intelligence that demonstrates the current exercise.

The screenshot below shows an example of an exercise explanation. In this case, the explanation of the type "beyond and back" (corresponding with button 3) is active. To clarify that an explanation is active, the background is shown in a darker shade of blue than with an exercise.

## Legend

1. This button can be used to start a new explanation, based on the solving method "tens first". In this example, that means: 42-16 = 42-10-6.
2. This button can be used to start a new explanation, based on the solving method "units first". In this example, that means: 42-16 = 42-6-10.
3. This button can be used to start a new explanation, based on the solving method "beyond and back". In this example, that means: 42 - 16 = 42 - 20 + 4.
4. This button can be used to leave the explanation and to return to the exercise.
5. Whenever it has added value, on the left side, a number-history-sequence is shown. A yellow interval corresponds to a ten. A green interval corresponds to one or more units. In this example (method beyond and back), first two full crates have been dragged to the right. Subsequentially, 4 units have been dragged back to the left. This history manifests itself as two yellow segments downward, followed by a green segment with a length of 4 units upward.
6. Blue horizontal segments indicate the spots where tens have been passed.
7. Animated effects reinforce spoken explanations, such that it becomes clear which units or tens are being discussed by the artificial intelligence.
8. During exercise explanation, an animated hand cursor is visible. The movements of that hand cursor serve as an example of how you could make the exercise yourself.
